First the gas hook up has been moved to the exterior wall side of furnace, which makes it even harder to get to. Then they made it cheaper by installing plastic blower wheels. Quality control is a joke, as the screw that holds the furnace in place inside if the cabinet came loose and somehow found its way into the heat exchanger, seriously?
Luckily for me I Do Heating & Cooling for a living. I removed the cheap 3/8" flare fitting off of the new furnace and installed a 3/8"x!/2" black iron 90 degree ell. Then I screwed a 90 degree street ell into the previous ell and connected a 1/2"X48" flex connector. That got the gas back near the access hole ( No outside door?) where I was able to re-connect it. While I was at it, I installed a molex connector for the wiring after cutting them to removed said furnace. It is not the sellers fault for quality control, please dont blame them. After all of my previous adventures, it is up and running. Beware, it STINKS for the first day or so, due to protective paint on the heat exchanger. Good Luck!
