This is mostly a review of the installation instructions since I've only just installed it and haven't actually hooked the Escape Hybrid to a tow bar yet. I'm a 67 year old retired HR manager with a degree in English (not the most technical of folks). Thanks to the excellent pictures and written instructions, I started the job (put the car on ramps in the driveway, sorted the included hardware, and raised the hood) at 8:30 this morning (8/5/14), and by 11:30am I had the baseplate installed and torqued, the front of the car (fascia, grille, air dam, etc.) completely back in place and the car in the garage with tools put away. Finished! In just 3 hours! Yes, I guess I'm proud of myself. I'm also convinced that ANYONE can do this if he (OR she!) can read. Great job, Blue Ox!
As for the product itself: it fit perfectly, the bolt holes all lined up, and it seems sold as a rock and plenty hefty enough to allow me to pull this small SUV behind my new diesel motor home safely. My next job is to install the wiring harness so all the running lights, turn signals and brake lights work. I hope that task turns out to be as uncomplicated as the baseplate installation was.
